Prototypes Treatment Center 10.26.09

Most of the girls were off property for a retreat so class was small; only six of us. Also, another dynamic, the dining room floor was being worked on so our usual room was filled with the tables and chairs. It was a beautiful day so we took our class out of doors under the shade of a oak tree. Switching venues at the last minute is somewhat unsettling, and it cut into about 15 mins of our hour together.

Once settled, the setting was lovely, however it is a somewhat difficult to hold the group attention because there was a lot of activity on the front porch with work trucks and two new arrivals. I tend to let the ones who 'must' check it out look, as eventually they make it back to focusing what's up on the mat. I have to be more emphatic than usual to draw attention back to the mat and it jars my own attention and flow a bit, but its good practice in teaching to stay fresh and in the moment.

We are all getting more comfortable with each other, so in that way, teaching here is getting easier.

One word 'how do you feel?' check in. One girl said 'irratated and worried about preparing dinner'. (She was on dinner duty that evening). I loved her raw honesty.
